11F
Table of Contents
11F is a bizarre yet incredible psychological horror video game unlike any other. This game is full to the brim with elements of horror, madness, mystery, creativity, originality, and impact. You’re not alone either. Pesky residents haunt this place and you’ll need to confront them to progress. The nightmares never end as you explore the building and attempt to reach your goal.
11F
After your father’s death, an unknown source slides a document under your door. The document declares that you receive the rights to a building cryptically named “The Origin.” A note included with the document asks if you want to come up to the 11th floor. Curiosity gets the best of you so you go to the building and search for 11F.
You can progress through the game in any order but you’ll need to find keys to unlock doors and drawers. There are many rooms to explore and each room has a unique theme. For example, one room is themed like a theme park. You’ll continue to search these rooms to reach 11F.
UNIQUE EXPERIENCE
11F is a psychological horror game where you collect keys to open doors so there isn’t much new there. What makes 11F unique is the creativity behind the experience. The main menu has a looping video of someone clipping their dirty fingernails. The video is in a gritty black-and-white format with a film grain overlay.
You’ll see more of these types of videos as you progress. A sense of realism injects itself into the game when a video appears. The videos are often short and include creepy scenes that can make you feel horrified or unpleasant. Either flavor of horror is a work worthy of accolades.
THE BUILDING
The dilapidated building is named “The Origin.” The reason for the name is unknown but answers can be found on the 11F. The problem is 11F doesn’t exist, so mysteries continue to pile up. Exploration seems to be the only solution. Traveling between floors is easy with a stairwell on both sides of the main hallway on each floor.
All of the rooms have a unique theme. Some themes can be as simple as a room full of torture devices while complex themes like a carnival theme are much more dramatic. The rooms themselves can tell a story. All you have to do is explore them and you’ll have a pretty good idea of what happened in each room.
THE RESIDENTS
A book at the front desk briefly describes the residents remaining in the building. The initial thought is how can anyone live in such an atrocious environment? Nonetheless, they are here and the book provides insight about each resident and how to handle them. Heed the words written within the book.
DANSDAIL
Dansdail is a 33-year-old man. He is a photographer and loves to take pictures. He loves photography so much that he will photograph anything. His obsession with photography led him to madness. Now when he takes a picture of an object, a bit of its soul absorbs into the photo. He shouldn’t take a picture of you. You risk losing yourself.
KEVIN
Kevin is an 11-year-old boy who loves basketball and despises lies. Kevin can be found in the stairwell with his ball and listening to music. Sometimes he loses his ball in the stairwell, which makes him angry. Bring him the ball. Doing so will please Kevin and he will let you pass in return.
SUSANNE
Susanne is a 74-year-old woman. She loves to have conversations and will listen to anything, but she is easily distracted by noise. Don’t make any sound. Unwanted sound translates to noise and her hate for noise is so massive that she will hunt you down and destroy you.
HANS
Hans is a 20-year-old man. He is a cartoonist and loves to play. The problem is that play to him is hunting and violence. Run away! If you see Han, you should run immediately. He is fast and will hunt you down. You don’t want him to catch you. Bad things happen when he catches you.
THREE KIDS
Donder, Vixen, and Prancer are 5-year-old children who wander the halls of The Origin. They love new things and think adults are amazing. A child is a child. Violence is not in their vocabulary but they may scare you because they are stealthy and love to play games.
HENRY
Henry is an 18-year-old bellboy who loves days full of laughter. It can be hard to get rid of him. Don’t ignore him. Ignoring him makes him angry and he will chase you. Henry is fast but shy so if you keep an eye on him, you should be okay.
THE HORROR
11F comes with plenty of horror elements. The building alone instills dread and apprehension. There is a deep sense of mystery, too. Noises of the building’s bones creak and crack while whispers can be heard in the hallways. Something crashes in the distance but there are no signs of the cause. A ghost appears and then quickly disappears. The building is haunted and you are alone within.
The psychological horror elements can be felt everywhere. Many things mess with you along your way to the 11th floor. Not everything is deadly. The willpower to remain sane consistently gets tested and could lead to something worse than death. These things are downright creepy.

AS I SEE IT
11F is an incredible psychological horror video game. There isn’t much unique about the gameplay and some may consider this a walking simulator horror game, but the creativity is off the charts. The videos are truly unique and add a sense of realism.
What I enjoyed the most was the approach to storytelling. There are letters to read but not too many which I appreciate because I’m not a fan of reading a novel to get the story in a video game. Instead, every room tells a story. Some are more subtle than others, but there is a story to uncover in each room with some containing a note to flesh out the details. I consider the rooms to be the strongest point in 11F.
