The Cabin Factory

Table of Contents
An incredible and unique experience filled with horror, anomalies, dread, and sorrow all encompass The Cabin Factory. Your heart will flutter and you’ll freeze the first time you walk into a cabin fresh off the press. Uncertainty steals courage when you see him sitting there, not moving a muscle. What in the hell did I walk into? Explore further to find out.
THE CABIN FACTORY
You are a new employee at The Cabin Factory. Inspect hyper-realistic horror cabins as they come straight off the assembly line and determine whether or not the cabin is haunted. The job is simple except your life is on the line and nobody told you that. You can’t leave either. The factory won’t let you.
The Cabin Factory is a welcome addition to anomaly video games. A cabin is not haunted when everything inside is still (except for the fire in the fireplace). Haunted cabins have objects that move and can be as subtle as a hand or as obvious as a door opening on its own.
The cabin’s content can shift between iterations. For example, one cabin may have stuffed animals spread throughout. They weren’t there before but as long as they don’t move, the cabin is not considered haunted. Cabins are considered haunted only when an object moves.

STORYLINE
The Cabin Factory’s storyline is told through objects and scenarios inside the cabin. Upon entering the very first cabin, you know something is not right. You can tell as soon as you look around the corner. Something terrible has taken place and these cabins have somehow inherited those terrors.
A radio sits near the fireplace inside the cabin. It appears to be broken. You go through a few iterations of the cabin and a broadcast suddenly comes through. The broadcast contains information about a cabin found in the woods and a tragic event associated with said cabin. This is when you get a general idea of what you are dealing with.
A SUMMARY OF THE RADIO BROADCAST
Three hikers notice rising smoke while walking through the woods. They find an isolated cabin with two burned bodies so they call the police immediately.
Authorities determined that a family of four lived in the cabin, a mother, a father, and their two children. The bodies found at the scene are the parents. The children are missing but search efforts will continue.
Authorities are unable to determine how the parents became trapped inside the cabin. However, clues suggest that the fire was intentional. A criminal investigation ensues.
THE CABINS
The cabin’s floor plan begins at the front entrance with a small hallway. There is an area to hang coats and store shoes. The hallway leads to a small living area. There is one bed and a couple of rocking chairs. Turn around and you’ll find another hallway with a fireplace and dining table.
A door and stairway sit across from the dining table. The stairway leads up to a small loft with a television and chair. There is enough room for two children, one on the floor and the other on the chair. The door leads down to a massive basement. It is an open-concept room with a table, a few barrels, some shelves, and a bathroom.

THE HORROR
The Cabin Factory does a fantastic job of making you feel uneasy and apprehensive. You won’t experience many traditional jump scares but some instances might make you jump because something changes unexpectedly. Expect plenty of dread and uncomfortable situations. The Cabin Factory doesn’t let down the horror once it starts.
The storyline is frightening. The Cabin Factory does a great job of telling the story through the environment. As you progress, you’ll pick up small details and piece together the sinister events within these walls. A dark tale reveals itself.

AS I SEE IT
I admire anomaly video games and have a blast playing most of them. Anomaly video games with a storyline are even better. Telling a story with the environment vibes with me. I like the mystery and piecing together all the clues. The Cabin Factory gave me that experience.
Ten Bells is another anomaly video game with an incredible storyline that is told similarly to The Cabin Factory.
The Cabin Factory gave me the feels. A couple of moments from the game have been burned into my brain. I feel bad for the children. I don’t like to give spoilers so that’s all I can say but I’ll add that I felt ill during those moments. Well done from a horror aspect but truly disturbing.
Another aspect that I must mention is how I felt exploring that cabin. This might make the game sound like an awful experience but horror fans like myself will probably disagree. I felt so much dread, apprehension, and melancholy but the need to push through never let up. The darkness of the cabin, the expressions of the faces, and the overall atmosphere enveloped me. The Cabin Factory does horror right.
